What would make women more comfortable to buy firearms from a store?

Just the idea of a gun store gives me the creeps. If I was looking I'd go somewhere that sold other stuff like, I don't know, hunting gear?? Maybe I'd look on line. I would be more leary of defense than hunting. I would need a lot of help and explanation in order to buy a gun. My first fear would be getting ripped off. Kind of like at a car repair place. I am not your model customer.
