What does she mean by : dont be too persistent?

hey so my gf dumped me a bit more then month ago. i want to get her back. shes mad at me at the moment for getting drunk with a friend ( thats a girl and that likes me ) i didnt hook up with the girl or anything... anyway i was talking to my x's sister today asking her what i should do to get back with her. she said i should talk to her regularly be nice but dont to persistent. what does she mean by that? and is that good advice? if you have any advice please help! thanks :)
